Scope note
Species of small deciduous tree, 2 to 8 meters in height; native to northeastern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It has a paper-like bark that can be removed easily. Its sap is harvested through incisions; the milk-like juice hardens on exposure to air and is used as incense.
